Lawrence, KS and nearby towns "flooded" the news reports yesterday evening. I got the eyewitness scoop from my daughter when she got home from her office in downtown Lawrence. For her, it was the ultimate gully-washer!
Normally after a day of work in her dental office, she likes to come home and "chill" for a while. Doesn't chat much, catches up on her mail, changes clothes to some comfys. Last night she couldn't stop talking about what she saw and experienced in Lawrence. It was that astonishing to her in its magnitude of flash flooding. She exclaimed to me more than once, "I have never seen anything like that before in my life
"
There were some extra challenges for her, and all the staff, in her dental office. Of course, everyone had a tough time getting into work, most were late, but so were the dental patients. A "wash." For a number of years the dentists and staff all knew the building they rented had drainage problems being an older building. My daughter and all the dental assistants spent the entire day, in between patients, mopping up water throughout the office. The dentists were angry and not very happy campers about their facility. Anyway, buckets and buckets of water dumped back outside. No wonder she was beat.
More rain predicted for that area today. My daughter doesn't have to go to work; it's her weekend time. I think she's glad.
Incidentally, our lawns, trees, and plants here in KCMO do need some of that rainwater.
