I went and looked it up, the IROC race was and in Daytona just two days before his death.
I was thinking that was where it happened, but wasn't positive.

I always liked those IROC races.

Another lap or two may have just accomplished it for Denny or even a caution, but it was not just meant to be.

I believe that was Stewart/Haas first win of the year.

wonder what NASCAR's Competition officials are stirred up about .... following the race at New Hampshire, the Team Penske No. 12 Ford of fourth-place Ryan Blaney will be taken to the NASCAR Research & Development Center in Concord, North Carolina, this week for further evaluation.

I didn't watch it, was at the river, but
was his car abnormally fast or more something else?
Wondering why he was singled out.

the big boys are running at Pocono under a beautiful blue sky .... 4 car in the lead since the green flag but mid way through Stage 1 the 42 car has been the most impressive .... started at the end of the field and is already in the top 10

What Denny Hamlin couldn't get done last week came through for the win this week.

Sure glad to see it.

no real surprise ====> "On the brink of missing the playoffs for this first time in his career, seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson is moving on to another new crew chief in the hope of reversing a serious slide into irrelevance." .... https://www.espn.com/racing/nascar/stor ... crew-chief

In my opinion, could it improve Jimmie's finishes, yes. Could it get Jimmie back to where he once was, I doubt it. I say his best days are behind him. He seems to have fallen into that pattern that many find themselves at once they reach that point. Some drivers quit while they are still on or near the top. Others, like I would, stay in it till they are ready to hang up their helmet. The thing with Jimmie though is that I believe he puts too much pressure on himself.

Jimmy and Chad had a chemistry that set them apart .... similar to Gordon and Evernham .... when they split up, they lost that chemistry and neither ever found it with another crew chief

True, but the performance dropped while Chad was still there.

I also agree on the Gordon and Evernham chemistry, but to my surprise, Jeff continued on with great success.
