Official 2016 Baseball Thread
How many baseball fans do we have here? I've been following the M's in the Cactus League and will watch or listen to every regular season game that I can.

I've been a Yankees fan since about 1957. I like the Phillies too. Actually, where I lived until 3 years ago, the location afforded me the opportunity to get to a lot of Phillies games. And I could get some of the Yankees games on TV. According to the preseason reports, they are to be only mediocre this year. We shall see. Now, where I live in south central Pa. I can get the Orioles, Nationals and Pirates games on TV. But sometimes I go to the Hagerstown, Md. minor league games, the Hagerstown Suns. You see good baseball and it's cheap to get in. Actually, it is my favorite sport and my son played from little league, to Junior Legion, to Legion, in high school and in college. Then, after he graduated, he played fast pitch softball and his team won the class 4A national championship in Minot North Dakota. I taught him well when he was a kid.

Baseball is a great game to watch and play while football is best only watching.

We enjoy watching (especially my wife does) the KC Royals. She almost doesn't miss a game. It was a blast last season to see them take the WS.
I also really like to watch the Cubbies. Grew up in a near-west Chicago suburb, and got to see games at Wrigley --- way back when. A Royals vs. Cubs WS this year would be a lot of fun! As soon as March Madness ends, we'll enjoy the baseball season again!

I have been a St. Louis Cardinals fan since I was old enough to know what a baseball was.
Grew up in Indiana about equal distances to St. Louis, Chicago, and Cincinnati. Naturally, everyone was either a Cardinals, Cubs, or Reds fan. Sorry, White Sox fans, only the National League existed for us.
My dad was a Cardinals fan, so I grew up listening to Cards games on the radio.

I'm first an M's fan and second a Royals fan so last year I at least had one team make it.PT7 wrote:We enjoy watching (especially my wife does) the KC Royals. She almost doesn't miss a game. It was a blast last season to see them take the WS.

Great. I don't go to the games much anymore but always have the TV or radio on during the games.Whaler wrote:My wife and I are 100% Mariners fans.

We get over to Seattle for one game a year when the Red Sox are in town (my wife was born and raised in Boston). Enjoy them on the TV and can see more of what is happening but the excitement of being there is worth the trip.

Its hard to go to a game and not spend $100 per person. I can watch them at home for nothing. Well I did buy a large Mariner flag. I put it out when I'm home and a game is on the TV or radio. I'll often sit outside and a neighbor or two who were out walking will stop for an inning or two.

Giants beat KC today in a split squad game. They play the Dodgers tonight.

I don't really follow it too close, although I did take my son one time when he was young to see the Blue Jays play at the Toronto Skydome...fun day but I forget who they played, might have been the Royals. My parents live in Toronto.

Well, we're freed up now to pay more attention to the KC Royals.
Just watched the March Madness Elite Eight game where #2 Villanova won over my alma mater, #1 Kansas, 64-59. KU's 17-game winning streak just came to an end, too. Such is the way it is.
Two more games tomorrow, and the Final Four is written into the books.
Still gotta chant once more: "Rock Chalk Jayhawk!"
It was fun.
(Sorry, Folks, about including basketball news in this baseball thread...won't happen again this year!)

I'm watching the game between the Cardinals and the Pirates. I'll probably check out my Yankees vs. the Astros tomorrow at 1:00 PM on ESPN. I like the Phillies in the National League. As of now the season doesn't look too promising for them according to the predictions.

The M's can go either way this year. If our veterans step up to the plate we can make the playoffs. But if they play like last year then its going to be another season of broken dreams.Deadwood Dutch wrote:I'm watching the game between the Cardinals and the Pirates.
