What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
I am surprised that you don't cast your own bullets. Starting in 1969 , when i bought a gun I bought a mould and sizing die for the Lyman bullet sizer. That way I knew that I would always have bullets for all the calibers that I shot.
Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
As an aside the "mould" is the way it is spelled in the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook. "Mold" is something smelly and black and very bad for your health.
Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Yesterday I decapped and polished 118 32 H&R mag cases. Next up is to add some powder, primer and bullet and magically turn them into cartridges.
I’m using the Hornady 85 gr XTP over 5.3 of Bluedot and a standard CCI primer. Makes for a nice soft shooting load for my SP101. Watch out bowling ping, I’m gunning for you.
Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Yesterday I added primer, powder and bullets to the brass seen above and now I have an additional 116 32 H&R’s to shoot up this spring. Plus the 11 left overs from the last loading session for this caliber. Found two split cases which makes several from this lot of brass. I bought it used from a guy with a set of dies so I don’t know how many times it’s been loaded. It gets a very close inspection due to the number of split cases I have found.

Well, yesterday morning I loaded some 44 and 444s for some off the deck plinking,
Then after the plinking was over I decapped all that brass plus the 45 Colt stuff that I shot last weekend.
Two separate loads through the tumbler and it's all shiny and ready to start all over.

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Deprimed and flared about 30 357magnum shells to make up a box of 50 once fired shells. Have about 500 shells of 38special/357magnum tumbled and ready to be deprimed and separated into once fired or multi fired. I separate shells according to headstamp also.
Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
It's Thursday night and I'm still working on last weeks shell acquisition. Deprimed and flared 100 38special and 100 3577magnum more shells today. At least I'm well set with brass for all the calibers I load for . I load 3 calibers to shoot in my brothers weapons.

You got that backwards. You need to shoot your brother’s ammo in your firearms.JVogler wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 9:14 pmIt's Thursday night and I'm still working on last weeks shell acquisition. Well, yesterday before the son and grandson came by I had deprimed some 35 Rem., 38-55, and some 357 brass and had those in the tumbler.
After the son left I pulled the brass and rinsed it off and played it out to dry.
Loaded the 66 pieces of Win. nickel brass 357's with the 180gr PN over the usual 11.5 grs. of 2400.
I then got some other 38-55 brass out and ran them through the sizing and expanding dies.
Inspected for splits, found 3, then primed the other 72 pieces.
I then loaded 12 with a different 243 gr bullets to try out on the gong.
Then the power went out, was going to start on some more 255's.
So, I'll load some here shortly.

Well, I got 32 of the 255's loaded, then the powder ran dry.
No worries though, there's at least 4 to 4.5 more lbs. sitting on the floor by the bench.

The powder measure was really high-tech stuff

I wonder who supplies their consumables - powder, primers, bullets. ?

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
We could probably load some powder that way. Some max reloads specify a case full of compressed powder.

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
I bought 500 62gr Federal Fusion bullets which are a GoldDot by another name (confirmed by my own testing and others), Ive prepped 400 1x LC cases so far and Ill begin loading tonight. 26.1gr of PP Varmint and a cci41 makes a dandy load. Its what Id call a universal load, its a great performer in all of my 5.56 guns.
I do think I am addicted to reloading.
