Lubed and premiered and sized 25 tonight. Found some nice Hornady 158's but no powder yet
Also reloaded Hornady 45-70s with IMR 4198 - Hopefully hitting the range Wed night
Did you try redoing the rounds that had to much crimp
Don't let the old man in

Not yet. Have to pull the bullets and start over, right?

No I would just run them up in the die Like you were going to crimp them after loading them

So put the whole cartridge (bullet, primer, powder and all) in the die and that will flatten out the little bubble?

Yes just like you were going to crimp it from the start. Screw that lee die in till it touches the case then lower the ram screw that die in a little at a time and see if it doesnt flatten out the crimp a little. Ive done it before and it usually works great

Yeah 4570 and the crimp caused the mouth of the shells to bubble out a little too much on a couple of them

Hmm. Lee makes a die called, I believe, the "Bulge Buster" just for that purpose. Have never used one, but, have read about it.I'd look into that or figure out what exactly caused the bulge.
Edit: It doesn't look like Lee makes one for the 45-70. Damn! Research time.

Well, it's a raining here today, so I guess I'll play at the bench today.
Gonna start with some good ole 30-30's, 173 gr cast over 9.5 grs Unique.
Should be some nice gong ringers.
Then maybe some 223's just cause. 😉
