It's been a rough stretch.
It's been a rough stretch.
I've had a lotta bad health issues in the last 6 weeks. Bladder infection started it off. They gave me an antibiotic for that which triggered C-Diff colitis which is a nasty event by itself. From there I ended up in ER at 2AM with a catheter bag that was mostly blood and a 102.7 fever. I got wired up in ER and the nurse looked at the numbers, pressed a button and made the announcement....."Sir, you're having a heart attack." So at 4AM I ended up with a stent. I didn't want to go to ER but my wife insisted. Cardiologist said I probably wouldn't have made morning if I stayed home. Looks like minumal heart damage at this point. After that there a couple more battles with the recurring bladder infections plus a session of Sepsis.
Then the roughest part of all....my wife got home after visiting me in the hospital and there was my beloved old golden retriever "Casey" dead on the kitchen floor. He'd had a couple of seizures recently and this one got him.
So, while I have more tests and appointments coming up it's starting to look like I'm coming out of this. This chain of events was totally unexpected. I went from a fairly active old man to a basket case in very short time..
If my recovery continues at this pace a range trip with a couple of .357 carbines will be how I celebrate. Going to make those 50 yard plate racks ring.

Sorry to read your post, 5shot. I hope you have the best possible outcome, and your dear wife is in my thoughts, too. Poor girl nearly lost her husband and did lose her dog. I can't even imagine what it was like find him after leaving you in the hospital.
Get well soon.

Holy cow 5shot. I haven’t been logged on for several days and I come here today and read about fortyshooter’s troubles and now your’s. So sorry for all your issues but happy you decided to have your heart issue while in the ER. Good thinking on your part.
Sounds like your body is going to heal up but your heart will be troubled with the loss of your wonderful Golden. Best to you in everything.

Hoping the best for you. I know what you are going thru, it took a while to regain some stamina after my heart attacks.

Just got out of the hospital again. While it was a major heart attack, being right there in ER made a big difference and the damage is minimal. My problem was yet another bladder infection. Urologist pulled my catheter out and that turned out to be a bad move. So I ended up back in ER with 103 fever and completely unable to pee. This time there was some kidney trauma which has corrected itself. Wednesday I have an appointment with a specialist. Obviously the prostate is the prime suspect now.FormerParatrooper wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2026 6:37 pmHoping the best for you. Re: It's been a rough stretch.
You are a complicated case, for sure, 5shot. Good news about the minimal heart damage. Wishing you a speedy diagnosis, treatment, and recovery for the rest of it.

Sorry to hear about the things happening of late, but keep fighting.
You're sure getting more than your fair share of the complications right now.
Prayers sent.
