It's been a rough stretch.

Post by 5shot » Wed May 20, 2026 9:49 pm

I've had a lotta bad health issues in the last 6 weeks. Bladder infection started it off. They gave me an antibiotic for that which triggered C-Diff colitis which is a nasty event by itself. From there I ended up in ER at 2AM with a catheter bag that was mostly blood and a 102.7 fever. I got wired up in ER and the nurse looked at the numbers, pressed a button and made the announcement....."Sir, you're having a heart attack." So at 4AM I ended up with a stent. I didn't want to go to ER but my wife insisted. Cardiologist said I probably wouldn't have made morning if I stayed home. Looks like minumal heart damage at this point. After that there a couple more battles with the recurring bladder infections plus a session of Sepsis.

Then the roughest part of all....my wife got home after visiting me in the hospital and there was my beloved old golden retriever "Casey" dead on the kitchen floor. He'd had a couple of seizures recently and this one got him.

So, while I have more tests and appointments coming up it's starting to look like I'm coming out of this. This chain of events was totally unexpected. I went from a fairly active old man to a basket case in very short time..

If my recovery continues at this pace a range trip with a couple of .357 carbines will be how I celebrate. Going to make those 50 yard plate racks ring.

5shot -

What a rough patch, a double whammy.

Remember the good times you had with your dog. Whoever said money can't buy happiness never bought a lab puppy.

Sorry to read your post, 5shot. I hope you have the best possible outcome, and your dear wife is in my thoughts, too. Poor girl nearly lost her husband and did lose her dog. I can't even imagine what it was like find him after leaving you in the hospital.

Get well soon.
