Cool. That would be fun.
Don't stand too close to Jake when he shoots. Not sure why he's Shakey Jake but just in case....

Re: 2019 Meet At A Range
for me the best part of today's visit to the rifle range at Blackwood was getting to see John (Shakey Jake) again .... also to visit with the local gunsmith who is working on some of our family firearms when he was there delivering Jake's Henry 327 .... our Henry BBS 44Mag performed well, as did our home rolled ammo .... for me, it proved to be a day where I shot OK but nowhere near as well as I should have .... as can be seen below, it was misting rain .... what can't be seen is the penetrating, cool wet feel of the air .... I hope to get back over there early next week .... I'd like to run a some rounds through our Henry 45-70 and BLR 308

Re: 2019 Meet At A Range
being somewhat cheap ..... OK -- OK, no somewhat about it .. .. I made my own targets .... printed them out on 8.5 X 11" regular paper .... had to staple them onto cardboard the range provided .... the cardboard was then stapled to boards at the various distances .... by the time I'd walk back down to put up new targets the old ones were so soggy that they came all apart when trying to remove them from the cardboard .... I fired 160 rounds .... a some at 25 yds, most at 50 yds, and some at 100 yds .... every round fired would have hit well within the kill zone of a deer but the groups were way too large .... hopefully the results next week will be better

Re: 2019 Meet At A Range
Been there, done that with the soggy target thing and more than a time or two. Happens every spring as our snow thaws. The paper just seems to pick up all that moisture in the air.
Glad you got out, though, and had some fun. Hoping you get better weather, next time.
