Coop, growing up we had a grape vine and a cherry tree. My mom used to make grape jam and would can the cherries and we kids enjoyed both all winter. :D

59 earlier today and as I type this it’s getting hot. High of 98 expected today and tomorrow. The road in front of my place is being re-paved today and I sure feel sorry for those guys laying hot asphalt in this heat.

Played golf yesterday and this guy tried to join our group.

61 this morning due to overcast skies keeping the temp up a little. Predicted high today is 98 but if this overcast sticks around we won’t get there. Tomorrow starts a slight cool down with temps in the low 90’s and then in the 80’s for most of the Labor Day weekend. Great camping weather for those who will venture out.

Going to get on the lawnmower here if a few and beat the heat.

54 when we woke up shortly after daylight .... 61 RealFeel 67 at 8:30AM .... forecasted high 81 followed by an overnight low of 55 .... no rain today (Wednesday), this coming Sunday is supposed to be a washout .... only thing on the calendar for today is they are coming for fall service on our heat pump .... that thing has really been worked hard this summer .... I do hope to get out and start unloading our current Chevy pickup which will be traded in on our coming new Chevy pickup

A warm one today at 64 with some overcast. High is supposed to be 91 but if the overcast sticks around like it did yesterday we’ll stay in the 80’s. Yesterday’s forecast of 98 also stayed in the 80’s due to the overcast. Yipee. Maybe some rain later, hope so. Saw on the news that the Spokane area has received only 16% of our normal rain. But just 90 miles north where our property is located 135% of normal has fallen. When we were up there last week we noticed how greener everything was.

Another interesting fact is a small part of the Spokane river has gone dry on the surface. Here we are blessed with a huge aquifer that in some places feeds the river and in other places drains the river. The flow of the river is controlled by a dam which drains a large lake named Lake Coeur d’alene. By requirement the utility company that own the dam has to restrict the discharge until Labor Day to make sure there’s enough water for recreation on the lake and upper river. The combination of our drought and the restricted flow from the dam has caused the riverbed to be empty for a short distance. In my recollection this is the first time this has happened. A bit scary but next week the dam will open and the river should return to normal. Some rain would help.
