S&W M 69 .44 Mag review after 2nd repair trip.....

Post by fortyshooter » Tue Aug 18, 2020 10:14 am

Testing out my new M69 after it's 2nd trip to S&W for repair. This is from 2018 and when I bought it and found the cylinder gap way to big at .012 and the trigger action and timing was off. Took two repair trips to get it right and now a good compact .44 trail revolver!
Ammo was my 240 gr. MB SWC with 9 gr. of Unique which is a good comfortable shooting .44 mag target load.

We promise it won’t get overlooked. Sometimes a thread can get buried before anyone responds to it.

Pretty good shooting Forty. I had a Dan Wesson 44 mag once w/ 8" HVR bbl & 4X scope. Good shooting rascal. I remember the time I was sighting in the scope, lying in a prone position. First shot, not paying enough attention, it bounced back & hit my cap bill.
That got my attention & held it from then on. Very accurate. Killed a few deer with it. Don't recall why I let it go, but wish had it back. You know how that goes.
I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

“I had a Dan Wesson 44 mag once w/ 8" HVR bbl” - I had one of those! Came with two barrels as I recall. One had holes drilled all the way around the barrel to take advantage of the vented shroud. The other barrel did not have the holes drilled. Take the locking ring off the front of the barrel/shroud, unscrew the barrel and screw the other one in. Feeler gauge for setting the cylinder gap and you’re all set. Like you - I got rid of it. And like you I wish I had it back.
