Last year, I started reloading 45 Colt for the Henry Big Boy that I bought. I've been in the process of testing different bullets for accuracy and suitability as a deer round. For deer season, I settled on the 250gr Hornady XTP with Accurate #9 powder, and used it to take 2 deer back in November. I like what I've seen with Accurate #9, so I'm continuing my testing with the 250/260gr bullets from Nosler and Speer.

Yesterday, I was in a local gun store who is closing out all of their reloading stuff. Checking the shelves, I found 6 boxes (of 100 each) of the Sierra 240gr JHP. I haven't tried these yet, but have read some good reviews of them. Going rate is about $35/box give or take from the usual online sources. Closeout price: $22.50/box. I couldn't pass up a deal like that, bought all 6 boxes. I should be good for a bit.

Good deal. Most prices now are in the $30's. Sierra makes good stuff. Used them when I first started reloading back in the late 60's.
Using Hornady now in my 9mm Walther. Have fun......

Nice. Ive always had good luck with Sierra Bullets.

I use Sierra for .327, .357 handgun, and .22 Hornet. They shoot as well as anything.

Ive used Sierra bullets since the early 1970s. Hornady and Sierra are my favorite go to bullets for all of my calibers.

I found some Sierra "Tournament Master" bullets at a yard sale some years ago for my .45 acp, three boxes I believe. The most accurate jacketed bullet I've loaded and fired from my Springfield mil-spec. Still have one box left and 100 loaded up. Maybe I should take that out next week!

I'm loading from Western Powder's 30k psi data. Current loads are running right around 1700 fps.

Great buy on the Sierra bullets 1 Although I have never reloaded Sierra's, their reputation is outstanding. I've generallybeen loyal to Hornady's jacketed bullets for both pistol and rifle because they give me good accuracy and quick knock down results on 175 - 200 lb. whitetail bucks. Lately, I have transitioned over to gas checked cast bullets (Oregon Trail and Bear Tooth) for my BBB .44 Mag and Marlin .45-70. Accuracy on those is about the same as I get with the Hornady jacketed bullets. Also, can't beat AA #9 as the optimum powder for .44 Mag reloads with either cast or jacketed bullets. Currently, I am using 17 grs. of #9 with 250 gr Bear Tooth .432 dia. cast bullets in my BBB rifle and S&W Model 29 Classic revolver.

Well, not being an 'old fart' I don't know too many 'young kids' that reload but I know quite a few young 'adults' that do and from what I experience and read on other forums the numbers are stable along with many getting into it as well.
