Killer robot at the range

Post by GunnyGene » Tue Oct 29, 2019 10:38 am

Ok, guys. The future is now. This is one tough robot. We might have to up our game, caliber wise. :D

A 4 minute video:

Yeah, it's mostly CGI. :)

However, science fiction gives birth to science fact. Imagination gives birth to reality. Ask Da Vinci, Verne, and many others. It's only a matter of time.

I was thinking maybe the robot was real and they were CGI-ing the gunshots but all the robot shots are CGI.

Boston Dynamics makes some robots that are amazing but the killer robot video was made by Bosstown Dynamics.

Interesting, I skimmed through the first part, will read the rest later. Sounded like they have the same concerns as me. That's why I was sure at least the live fire in the video was CGI, no way I would stand downrange of an armed robot, wouldn't even do that if it was a human pointing a gun downrange.

Also. even though it's now science fiction if you made more and more powerful weapon systems autonomous you would have to consider the possibility of a Terminator or Matrix type scenario.

The monologue briefly addresses that in chapter 3. Also it's worth noting that every major military on the planet is spending billions on this tech, and applications above and below ground and sea, and in space.

It definitely looks more real than professional wrestling.

I used to work with a guy, seemed reasonably intelligent. He swore pro wrestling was 100% real. Could not convince him that if someone did a real knee drop on your bare throat you wouldn't be getting back up and fighting no matter how tough you are. Oh well.
