Re: Essential Oils
My fiance uses them and likes them. She finds them therapeutic.
To me, some of them smell nice.

Re: Essential Oils
I teach yoga and oils always set off a heated debate on a yoga page I am on. Some swear by them some swear at them. Something to consider is that they are very concentrated and can be bad for the skin or anywhere around the eyes nose or mouth. Many people have adverse reactions because of the concentration. Even in scents that under normal use as perfume or air freshener which are very diluted and don’t bother most people. In these higher concentrations can trigger allergies and asthma. I had a very good friend place peppermint oil on my forehead in a class once and my eyes burned for the rest of the day. And I had a visible red spot on my forehead for two more days. My advice is to do as much research as you can on any oil you intend to use and dilute the oils as much as possible before putting on skin or in anything that might be inhaled. Do a quick online search for essential oil injuries and illnesses. You might consider not using them at all.
I am in the don’t use them on other people especially for yoga teachers. You never know who might have an allergy or a serious adverse reaction. The other issue I have with them is that it is a mostly unregulated industry and you don’t know how many of these oils are made and what other ingredients may be in them.
Almost forgot some of them are highly flammable and that doesn’t get printed on the label.

Re: Essential Oils
Forgive my ignorance...are these kinda like CBD, unregulated and such?
Or...are we talking about the same thing?

Re: Essential Oils
I use them for allergies, to open my airways... and also for "wear and tear" type pain stemming from a very eventful youth... been banged up pretty good a few times from fast cars, motorcycles, and horses.
The oils keep me from ruining my liver with Ibuprofen.
I also use oils for minor scalp psoriasis that I've dealt with my entire life... for that, it is a miracle cure.
For the other stuff, it helps.

Re: Essential Oils
CBD is only one kind of oil... and likely the least useful in my opinion.
The good stuff is frankincense, lemongrass, eucalyptus, rosemary, peppermint, and yarrow.

Depends on what you're trying to do with them.markiver54 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 8:49 pmThank you R665...have been using a couple CBD products for about two months with some success.Ridgerunner665 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 8:44 pmCBD is only one kind of oil... and likely the least useful in my opinion.

Re: Essential Oils
The numbers are drops...in a 30ml bottle, fill it the rest of the way up with jojoba oil.
15 frankinsence
50 lemongrass
25 peppermint
10 capioba
10 rosemary
10 lavender
10 wintergreen
5 marjoram
You'll faint when you see the price of frankincense...but it's good stuff.
The above is the mix I use for pain and wear and tear on my wrists and hands (grew up on a tobacco farm), neck (car wreck), ankles, and back.
It'll be expensive to get started... but isn't bad after the initial buy in... also, it doesn't work overnight... took me several months to see results.

Re: Essential Oils
DoTerra has this pre-blend for sale, I haven't tried it myself but I know someone who really likes it.

Re: Essential Oils
Where does one procure these oils? Have heard the term 'essential oils' before, but never gave it much thought before now.

Re: Essential Oils
First and foremost... I'm not an oil salesman... just a user that has seen results, not miracles... just results without ibuprofen.
My mother in law does sell them... so, everything I use is DoTerra.
You can buy DoTerra oils online.... just Google it.

Re: Essential Oils
My primary need is to work with very dry and irritated skin....hands & feet mostly. The body parts that get beat up most of all.
I have a pure essential oil blend (only topical use for me) that needs to be mixed with a carrier oil like olive oil, which is my preference. It's called "Thieves." Other than using as a massage ointment, it is marketed having other uses. Easy to show those uses with this very brief marketing video:

To further battle my general dry body skin I use two "Aromatherapy" body washes. My favorite is Sleep - Black Chamomile, and the other is Stress Relief - Sage & Cedarwood. They contain the primary essential oils listed in the names. Both are distributed by Bed, Bath, & Beyond. I learned of these from my wife, and she often used the Black Chamomile. They have very pleasant fragrances, but more than that. I tried them and I've found some help to lessen dry skin itching. I think it's well worth it to pay a little more for these helpful products.
It's also quite relaxing to smell that good after a shower!
