Freedom & Remembrance -- May 30, 2016

Remembering. As we approach the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.
“They are dead; but they live in each patriot’s breast, and their names are engraven on honor’s bright crest.” - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

While you enjoy your three-day holiday weekend, also pause for a moment from your day of festivity and relaxation to ponder, and remember, the many individuals who have given their lives for this incredible country. Be safe.

Profound images, I used to get a lot of Facebook posts thanking me for my service on Memorial Day. After a few years of reminding them that it isn't my day. And educating them what the day is for, I don't get those anymore.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday. ;)

On Memorial Day the flag should be flown at half-staff from sunrise until noon only, then raised briskly to the top of the staff until sunset, in honor of the nation's battle heroes.

There can be no greater contribution to freedom than that given by those who lost their lives in military service. Remember them.

Appreciate the flag etiquette, CT. Just a few weeks ago I retired my old flag, which actually was faded glory from the hot south sunshine.
Have my new one ready to fly -- in fact, it's up this morning finally since the rains have paused. :)
Thanks.

I remember the fallen, deceased Veterans and others who have served our country.

Many of them died in battle and many of them died from cancer to you name IT after the battle was over too.

I remember the Veterans and others who have served our country who are still alive too.

I am the type of a person who will stop, cross a street if need be, thank and wish a sailor, soldier and airman well.

I did that when it was not a popular thing to do during Vietnam and as a young Nam era bride.

Thanks to all of you in heaven and still living on earth. Thank you to my late husband too.

Well said, Cate and God Bless Them ALL.

At their time, they truly did represent the Best of the best, and paid the ultimate sacrifice for it.

May we never forget what they gave.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
