My last order has arrived

Post by bandit1250 » Sun May 22, 2016 8:08 am

The last order I made to Numrich's came Friday. I ordered another set of Marlin 1897 Century Limited wood from them. It is pretty decent grain on the butt stock of this one. I have bought three sets of wood now to be used on two of my up and coming project 39A Marlins and I am going to give my brothers 39A a new look with a set of this wood. This will be winter projects unless I decide to work in my gun room when the weather gets hot a muggy and my room is nice and cool. This wood will probably need a little work on the fore end barrel channel because of going from a octagon barrel rifle to a round. It will be close and not require much modifying of the barrel channel. This is my last order I received. Average or slightly better for the wood that was on these rifles when new.

Flip side. Pretty well matched in grain.

Nice to see Numrich sells these. I have seen some used Marlins and other rifles with pretty beat up furniture. Most Marlins I see are way overpriced for their condition down here.

The last I heard they had around 70 stocks and a little fewer fore arms. This was wood for a rifle only made 1 year(1997) and may be the last of it. It runs around $95 shipped to your home. If any one needs wood for a 39A PM me and I can give you the item numbers and save you some time looking it up. I would like to fit some wood like this on a Henry if they only made some with the strait grip. You are right about the over priced Marlin's but what caused that was the Remington take over of Marlin about '08 and all the problems getting the bugs out of production and not even producing the 39A now. The JM marked Marlins have increased in price a lot because of that. Maybe with the move to Alabama they can get the 39A back into the line again.

Nice stock and forearm. I would love a 39A to put some wood on.
