First outing with my Big Boy

Took my new Big Boy Steel to the range today. I’m impressed so far. Put about 200 rounds through it. Cycled everything great, both 38s and 357s. Shot dead on at 25 yards out of the box. I anticipated the bullet dropping more at 100 yards. Moved the sight up one notch. The front sight covers thetarget at 100 yards but grouped pretty tight with 357s. 38s dropped about 4 inches but also grouped well.
It would be fun to try silhouette targets at 50. Shooting paper would be kind of boring with this gun.
The only issue I had was the lever opened while I was loading it while holding it straight up. I can live with that. I’d recommend this gun to anyone who wants to have fun plinking

understood on "fun plinking" .... that said, within a hundred yards, I wouldn't hesitate to deer hunt with ours .... looking forward to your continued range reports and observations

Glad things went well with you. This was my first day out with my 30-30 also. But, things did not seem to go as well as I would have liked. I only shot about 45 rounds though. The first set was not too bad. I was shooting standing open sights at 25 yards and placed 10 rounds within the first two rings. Just wanted to play around and see what I could do. Attempted the same at 50 yards but with different results. Even when using a rest, I was not hitting the paper. It seem I was shooting high. Another shooter (better than I) was having the same results. We had the elevation all the way down. I was using 150 gr rounds.

I thinking of trying 170 gr to see if it may hit lower. The elevation of a 150 gr seems to hit fine in my Marlin with open sights at 50 yards (the elevation is all the way down also). But, the windage is off to the left some. The twist rate is also different. I don't know how much of a difference that makes. However, I may get an idea when I try the 170 gr rounds in my Henry.
