Quaking aspen is an amazing tree - they grow in colonies from a single root structure. The oldest and heaviest known living organism on the planet is a Quaking aspen grove that is estimated to be six million Kg and 80,000 yrs old.....

Thank you, Tractortad. That's really cool information. Here's another bit of interesting info. That Aspen grove is considered to be the oldest and heaviest, but the largest living organism is the Honey Fungus that lives in the Blue Mountains of Oregon said to measure 2.4 miles across. http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20141114 ... -the-world

They're supposed to be really good to eat, though not nearly as beautiful as the Aspen in Autumn.
