Need Nice Leather Sling for Big Boy Carbine

Post by hbob » Tue May 23, 2017 12:31 am

I have a Big Boy Carbine .357 Black and looking for a simple leather sling.
Of course I want something that would not interfere with the lever action.
My Big Boy came with the swivel studs installed.

I put a leather Montana sling on mine. Easily adjusted and looks the part.

Would you get the 1" or 1.25" sling?

I agree the Montana sling is a good choice, I have one. There also is a nice simple carrying strap type sling sold by Browning, that I actually like better. It, too, is all leather, with a simple friction slide to adjust length. I can't give a model number, though, and the only place I've found them is a shop in Superior, WI (Shooter's Supply). I like this type of sling for single shots (and lever actions) because there are no metal parts that could mar the receiver, (hooks, etc.) as some other types have.

Mine is the 1" variety but either would work great.

I have read many very positive testimonials about the Montana sling. I imagine a military style leather sling would also be an excellent choice.

Maybe not for a Henry, but some of those synthetic ones that stretch can be real comfortable if you carry a rifle all day. They give a little with each step, but look like crap................

There is, I think, humor here which does not translate well from English to sanity. - Sanya

That is a very nice sling but the Henry logo is a bit big for my tastes. Also does not look to be quickly adjustable. More like pick a length and stick with it. However if I ended up with one I'd certainly use it.
