Shooting and Posting

Post by Sir Henry » Wed Mar 22, 2017 2:45 pm

My life has gone through changes in the last few months and I've gotten away from shooting and posting. Yesterday I climbed Mt. Si and was going to shoot afterwards as the range is close but I didn't stop. This next Thursday I'm climbing again and will take a firearm to shoot. I want to shoot more but its 25 miles to the range. Doubling up climbing and shooting will help but it also means I'll be leaving a firearm in the car at the trailhead.

I have a pump (H003T) that I haven't even shot yet. And I just ordered a 24" Frontier in .22WMR (H001TMLB).

Just be sure to keep them and all the accessories out of plain view while you hike.

It took me months from purchasing the pump to actually getting out and shooting it.

I'm glad to see you here.

All three outdoor ranges I shoot at are located 25 or so miles from home. I always am planning my range time while driving, and seldom notice how far it is. Then when done shooting, I'm grinning and enjoying the countryside as I head home.

BTW, will you be shooting your pump with the stock sights, or have you done some sight mods to that rifle? I'd think a Weaver would look cool.....

Go for it, SH, and enjoy yourself!

Can't wait to see you back with us on a more frequent basis. Great news.

Do you climb solo, SH, or do you go as part of a group? Either way, it's good that you're getting out and making a new life for yourself. And don't forget the range report when you finally manage to shoot that H003T. ;)

I climb solo and with anyone that is on time and prepared at the trail head. Too many women say they want to hike and climb but what they really want is a stroll in the park and dinner. So if I haven't hiked with you before I will only do so by meeting you at the trailhead. This last Monday my barber and someone that lives in the neighborhood met me on time and prepared. Few people can keep up with me especially when it starts to get steep but she stuck right with me all the way to the top.

I have several peaks that I want to climb this summer and I need to be in shape. By the first day of Summer I want to be hiking 15 to 20 miles a day and able to gain several thousand feet. I was at that point last summer but not till the last day and then fall came early.
