Guns or die cast?

I put my old gun cabinet in the computer room today to make room for a new dresser my wife bought at the Amish furniture shop last week that I will pick up tomorrow. It seldom ever has any guns in it since I bought my safes. I am thinking maybe I should make a cabinet out of it to display my die cast cars. A used gun cabinet is not worth trying to sell and I could never recover even a small portion of what it cost me years ago. I think it is worth more to make a display cabinet out of it. What do you think?

A display cabinet sounds like a winner to me. A glass gun case looks good but for security they don't offer much.

Great idea on re-doing into a die cast display case; that would be my choice. I think it would quite enjoyable to check all those wheels out through the glass doors. Cool project ...go for it!

That's a really beautiful gun cabinet, Bandit. In our town and neighborhood, I wouldn't hesitate to display my rifles in it (I have always kept my Henry Big Boy on a wall display), but in yours there may be a reason why that would be a bad idea. It looks to be very well made and I like the etched glass. Whatever you decide, quality die cast models or quality handmade rifles would each do it justice. I can't wait to see which way you go. The picture you posted is already 50/50.

Definitely go with diecast. They need a nice place to be displayed. That gun cabinet is perfect, especially the lower section being glassed too.

I'd go with the Diecast too, Bandit. That cabinet looks like it is already halfway there.

Put some K.V. strips on each corner almost the vertical height of the cabinet and then get some glass shelves cut to display your die-cast treasures.
