Ruger Predator 22

Post by bandit1250 » Sun Jan 01, 2017 7:58 pm

I got bored today and it was a decent day for weather so I took the Ruger Predator and some ammo (CCI Standard) and went to the old shooting range my club has at an old coal loading site. Not the greatest of benches but also has a shelf wide enough to shoot off so I used the shelf. As usual I for got my sand bags that were keeping my 4-wheeler cover from blowing off in the wind we had for a couple days. All I had to shoot off was my back pack that was full of my predator hunting stuff. I started out with shooting the pieces of clay bird targets on the 50 yd. mound. This rifle hasn't been any where near CZ accurate but lately seems to be better than when new. It was easy picking the clay target pieces off at 50yds. So the concrete was covered in empty 223 steel cases and 9MM cases and I set them up at 30 yds. or so in the snow. I actually was surprised to hit all six 223 empties on each shot. Then I tried the eight 9MM casings and it took 10 rounds to make them go to parts unknown. I really like to watch how far some of the 223 casings go when hit and they are easy to see them land on the crusted snow and slide around when they land. This is my rifle. Handy little thing to carry in my truck and in the woods.

The only Ruger I ever had in a 22LR that shot lights out was a 77/22 in the laminate stock. I have another one I gave to the son in law that shoots ok but it wasnt anything to brag about. But the CZ's I have been around are lights out. If I was to buy another bolt action 22 it would be a CZ 22. Al
Don't let the old man in

The CZ would have been about $90 more than the Ruger and in my opinion worth every penny and more. I just wanted a "truck gun" I don't have to care about and this is threaded for a can so I thought I would try one. I have a 22 Mag. in this same model that will hang in there with my CZ FS and that is better than I ever had hopes for with a Ruger.

That's a fine "truck gun"! Looks like a durable, 'do-all' kind of rifle.
