Marine in Process
Marine in Process
My grandson is currently at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and will graduate in 3 weeks. I just received a call from my daughter telling me that Riley just achieved top shot for his battalion. I'm very proud of this young man and his decision to serve our country and add another Marine to the family.

You should be proud of your grandson. He is the best America has to offer.

The Corps removed the Scout/Sniper MOS this past Dec, but reorganized into Scout Platoons. The training is still available however. Here's more about that.

Or he may want to try out for the shooting team and earn that Distinguished Marksman badge.

Either one is a promotion fast track if he can succeed at it.

Ooh Rah!
From a Marine Staff NCO
Well Done.
I loved my time in the Corps, I went places, saw things, and did things others only dream about or see in the movies. Where else can you fly 100 mph and shoot 50 caliber machine guns out the window?
When others talk about the Arctic Circle, Tower of London, Guantanamo Bay, Italy, France, Sicily...
You just smile and say, BTDT.
When you watch action movies with friends and the heroes jump out of helos, or get picked up by Seal Fast boats... you get that sly smile, because you can say. BTDT. (And more you can't talk about.) You'll go places you'll never be, do things you'll never do. And love every minute.
Eat your crayons and Get Some.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Congratulations on a job well done. Our country needs more like him!
Re: Marine in Process
I will share this info with him. Right now I have no idea what path he will take. i do know he is off to a great start thanks to the USMC and his supportive family.GunnyGene wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 9:21 pmThe Corps removed the Scout/Sniper MOS this past Dec, but reorganized into Scout Platoons.
