Fixed my 45 ACP pup today !

Yes now my BBR 3.1 can now strut his stuff like the Pit Bull he is!

Always had the 2nd or 3rd round fail to fully lock up the slide when firing first shots no matter the type 45 ACP ammo. Even when fully cleaned and lubed there could be that issue and didn't want to trust it for a carry gun. I had polished up the feed ramp but still that issue until I replaced the spring and guide rod assembly this morning. Never liked the factory Rock Island recoil spring and guide and you can see the bent spring after maybe 50 rounds on another new one.
Yes these short barreled 1911 type pistols can be hard on springs but this was crazy! So I installed the EGW much improved guide rod and a better flat wound spring made of improved spring steel.
Took it out on a hot mid morning today just long enough to run 50 rounds of a mix of factory ammo and my loads including 230 gr. XTP loads and it functioned without a hitch even in rapid fire....this dawg can run now! :D

Love shooting it and is very controllable with a two hand push/pull type grip. Now it can be in my carry group along with the Springfield XDE 45 which has NEVER skipped a beat since new!

Those small 1911 variants in 45 are fun. I used to have a Para Ordnance version that was 1911 like other than it didn’t use the barrel bushing. It was a fun shooting and sized right for carry. Glad you got yours running strong!
