So long, Say Hey Kid!

Post by ditchparrot » Tue Jun 18, 2024 9:03 pm

Willie Mays is gone at age 93. I only caught the tail end of his career when he wasn't at his best, but my dad told me stories of how great he was in the '50s and '60s and my old man absolutely hated the Giants -- whether they were based in New York or San Francisco.

Now who takes the mantle of the greatest living player? Maybe Ken Griffey Jr.? For me, Barry Bonds is ineligible for that accolade.

I got to see him in the mid 60s. Batting practice with him and Willie McCovey was quite the treat. RIP.

Even though I'm not a big baseball fan, I can say " RIP Willie Mays". He IS a true legend.

Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Bobby Bonds, Juan Mirachal are some of the Giants I can remember watching
