Hi,
I haven't gotten to the range yet with my new Big Boy .357 Carbine. I did notice ; however; that it can accept 8 rounds of .357 if fed through the mag tube. It won't hold eight if I load seven in the magazine tube and then try to add another round through the side gate. Has anyone loaded eight in tube, racked it, and then added the eighth through the magazine tube? Will it work and is it safe to do so?
Thanks guys!

Is it safe to load 8 plus 1 rounds of .357 in BB Carbine?
Re: Is it safe to load 8 plus 1 rounds of .357 in BB Carbine?
What does the manual state? That would probably be the best choice. If not listed, contact Henry. My H009 can hold 6 in the tube. But, the manual states 5, due to recoil concerns.

Never heard of any safety issues with that. Might over stress the mag spring if you left it loaded for a long time, but I've loaded and fired 8+1 in my .41 mag (not a side gate rifle), just for giggles, without any issues. Don't really see any good reason to do it tho. Your call.

The manual does state 7+1, but I was just wondering. You may be right about issues with the the rod spring if it gets overloaded. Thx

No worries. I called Henry when I first got my H009. The manual stated 5+1. Yet, I could load 6+1. And, I was told that 5+1 is due to recoil concerns. There is also a post that someone posted Henry's response to this question. I will see if I can locate it.
