I got all the yard work finished with about 1 hour of daylight left on Tuesday so I wanted to shoot a few rounds. A couple days ago I swapped the scope on my CZ Trainer to a 4X Nikon rim fire model. I shot it in after putting the scope on but didn't get to try the sub sonic hollow points in it I plan to use in the early season. Season will be here before I am ready if I don't get in gear and get things ready. Next door Md. squirrel is already in as far as I know. Been to hot to hunt right now so I didn't get a Md. license yet. I have several brands of sub sonic hollow point to try and use the most accurate one. The CZ Trainer should be a great squirrel rifle as it puts the cold bore shots right where you want it to go whether clean or fouled. It has a very good trigger at 1lb. 2oz. with no creep. This rifle is good at shooting different brands of ammo pretty near the same place on the target but does have its favorites. Here is the rifle and target from Tuesday evening with three different brands of sub sonic ammo.
Target was shot at 40yds. with all three brands. All are 5 shot groups. The bottom right was the only five shot target with the Remington because it was all that I had out there with me. Then I set the target at 33 yds. and shot the push pins out at the top with the CCI ammo. 33 yds. has always been a good sight in distance for me especially in the early season. I wanted to see if it was good at 33yds. because I was in a hurry and put it at 40 yds. instead of 33. The Nikon scope is very clear and sharp. I think it is right there with my Leupold 4X but not quite as good as my newer Leupold 2-7 Rim fire.
