My Pedersoli Frontier .50 caliber. .490 patched lead ball. 55 grains of Triple 7 powder.
After my frustration of trying to get on target with the original front sight, then changing the rear sight to a ladder one (which bugged me cuz it was not correct to the period of the rifle), then changed it back to the original fixed buckhorn, and then finally last weekend filing the front sight down.....I have a shooter!!!!!!
I am trying to shoot it standing up all the time, off hand like the black powder folks do in the videos. Because it's only 7 lbs, and well balanced it shoots quite well like this.
50 yds, off hand on a 6" target
100 yds, OFF HAND! 12" target, I stuck it to some white cardboard so I could see any misses, but actually got them on the circle mostly. I could not believe how well it shoots. Love it. Lots of work to do at 100 yds but it's a start. Just happy to get on the target today.
What a cool rifle to shoot....
Shoot safe & often, RR
