72 under a gray sky on its way to 91 with a 15% chance of rain in central NC later today .... if the long range forecast is anywhere close correct, Tropical Storm Cristobal shouldn't have any impact on our home area .... looking forward to seeing one of our sons and his family later today .... Folgers is flowing

The air is thick and foggy in CT this morning with an air temp of 70°. The temperature should rise into the low eighties by afternoon under mostly cloudy skies and a threat of T-Storms. Enjoy your day.

Warm 74 this morning in B'ville. Probably going to be another hot one. Got the handle on the P226 pellet pistol getting some nice grouping. Mom is doing well this morning.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
The backyard temperature is currently 57° and the skies are clear and blue and the air is crisp and dry. CT will have bright sunshine all day. There will be a refreshing breeze with afternoon temps only rising into the mid to upper seventies. It's going to be a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Enjoy your day.

64° going to go 83° on the mountain today.
Drinking some dark roast coffee, and waiting for breakfast. That's it so far. I did manage to install my 110 watt solar panel an controller on my trailer, and it was charging the batteries like it should. No more extension cords to deal with now. Im digging it. Cheers!

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Found some Madagascar beans, small and expensive. Ice cream was kind of bland. Think I will use extract next time. Do you have a good recipe?CT_Shooter wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 11:46 amMy wife loved homemade vanilla ice cream. We always had too many eggs from our two hens, so it was just the natural thing to make. I used fresh vanilla beans and vanilla sugar (regular sugar stored with a vanilla bean) to enhance the flavor. Let us know how it turns out.
Ernie wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 11:23 amDid coffee and breakfast, then got the shopping done. 71 for a high and clear skies today so we get a break. So much rain I had to mow twice this week, will finish trimming today.
Bought a hand crank ice cream mixer and got all the makings for some French vanilla ice cream (takes a dozen eggs), will probably do that tomorrow.

Sunny and 75 this morning, still have to go to church by computer. Supposed to get near 90 today. I’ll have to get the little plastic swimming pool out for Phil the bulldog so he doesn’t over heat. Think I’ll make a gallon of sun tea. Everybody have a great day!

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Hi Ernie,
Yeah. Vanilla beans are expensive, but we found they were worth it for ice cream. Here's the recipe I use, which was published in the NY Times.
Good luck.

Vanilla Ice Cream
Time: 20 minutes plus several hours’ cooling, chilling and freezing.
2 • cups heavy cream
1 • cup whole milk
⅔ • cup vanilla sugar (regular sugar stored in a jar with a whole vanilla bean for several days)
⅛ • teaspoon fine sea salt
6 • large egg yolks
2 • vanilla beans
1. In a small pot, simmer cream, milk, sugar and salt until sugar completely dissolves, about 5 minutes. Remove pot from heat.
In a separate bowl, whisk yolks. Whisking constantly, slowly whisk about a third of the hot cream into the yolks, then whisk the yolk mixture back into the pot with the cream. Slice 2 vanilla beans in half lengthwise and scrape down the sides. Add the seeds and pods. Return pot to medium-low heat and gently cook until mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon (about 170 degrees on an instant-read thermometer).
2. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl. Cool mixture to room temperature. Cover and chill at least 4 hours or overnight.
3. Churn in an ice cream machine according to manufacturer’s instructions. Serve directly from the machine for soft serve, or store in freezer until needed.
Yield: About 1 1/2 pints

Happy to report, I finally got all those 4 big trees the storm blew down, a few weeks ago, all cleaned up. Ready to move on to my next project, replacing the wood on the front of the shop/ storage shed. This will take a while. Always something, LOL.
I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.
