I truly think you made the right choice. Even though I dislike winter, I am envious of your new place!
No way in Hell I'd live that far north. And the older I get the more I dislike the cold.

Springs going to be wonderful. All that field grass greening up and those beautiful trees budding out…….I can hear the birds singing already,.

I have a lot of birds wintering over like Blue Jays. The dried flowers outside my windows drop seeds for the birds.

Re: Home Sweet Wisconsin
I wanted a home that gathered the morning light. That was something my prior home was missing. It was a nice home but didn’t get winter sun until 10 am and on cloudy winter days it needed lots of artificial light. I would often turn every light in the house on to combat the gloom.
Here I don’t have to do that. Sunshine enters the home from the moment the sun rises even on the shortest winter day. This was yesterday and an overcast day. I didn’t turn a single light on. I never knew about homes being painted an arctic white on the inside. Yes I saw them and just thought they were bland. That was until I lived in one. I’m going to decorate this home almost to the exact opposite of my prior home. It will remain simple and uncluttered in traditional Swedish style.
The term torp was something that i had never heard before. The county I live in is 65% German however Timms Hill was settled by the Swedes. There is a lot of Swedish influence in the area and many have welcomed me to the area and congratulated me on buying the property. So much that I did some research to try to figure out what was going on. I’ve jokingly said I wanted to become a hermit yet I’ve moved into a community that goes out of their way to become friends. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torp_(architecture)

Torp sweet Torp!
Couldn’t agree more on getting lots of natural light into the home. Our present home was too dark with the wall color we selected and have already had the center part of the home (kitchen and great room) painted a lighter color. Also we added a full length glass storm door to the front door to let the afternoon light in. The rear of the house (east) is mostly glass so like you we enjoy lots of morning sun.
Your place is beautiful and the kitchen is so wonderfully bright. I am excited to see the area once spring hits and starts busting out all over.

Spring. I’m wondering if it will ever get here. Currently the road are glare ice and I can’t go anywhere. It’s so slick I don’t even want to walk outside to shoot. I’m limited to my front deck where I can only shoot pellets and BB’s.Hatchdog wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 10:11 amTorp sweet Torp!![]()
