My grandfather on my mother's side fought in WW1. He was 16 yrs old when he signed up. Lied about his age so he could go. I have a photo of him and some buddies in uniform I'll try post it this week. He told me they thought it would be a great adventure.
Morning tea time. Snow on the hills this morning.

Found the photo. The guy in the top right is Leonard Allen, my grandfather. Passed away in 1977.

It's a rainy day in CT, today. We have no plans other than spending time together and honoring the thousands of heroes.

Sunny skies here as the tea water is on. I might have to head to the range today.

Had one cup of coffee and then went out and cut and trimmed the grass. Too darn hot, but maybe I lost a pound or two, certainly wouldn't hurt. Gatorade hits the spot.

I woke up a little later this morning than I usually do. My allergy pill made me sleep in. Beautiful sunshine and calm conditions this morning. Having my coffee in my Henry mug and deciding on whether to go to the range or clean up my car and truck with all the pollen on them. Have to see what the fore cast looks like. Have a great day everyone.

my wife's home area is about 70 miles directly north of Sioux Falls ... its classic ranching/farming country .... her home town of 700 people has one motel, it has 4 rooms .... the town has put in 6 paved, full hookup sites next to the city park for which they charge $100 for a 7 day week (we can't run our home in NC during the summer for that) .... its a beautiful setting .... they do not want suburbs in that area, you have to own 160 acres to build a home outside of city limits .... if it wasn't for the winter, I'd move out there in a heartbeat

An early "Good Morning!" -- for us at least.

Sioux Falls -- I'd take living in "classic ranching/farming country," too. And I'm one of those "crazy" folk who don't mind winter!

Although early, having my second cup of double mocha. We're heading to the KS side this morning for a funeral service today. We lost a very good friend of many years last weekend, especially dear & close to my wife. Need to go, so we're up and will be on the road shortly.

The weather is now approaching summer-time stuff. Our local weatherman used two nasty words in his forecast for today: "very humid." :( That is the one negative side to KCMO weather for me. But I'm glad my wife is content with this season.

Everyone have a great day. :)

Good morning, or just after noon here. Had two cups this morning. On June 1st 1968 I was home on leave from the Navy for 30 days, sitting in a little reataurant in Cambridge Maryland having lunch with my best man. Because in about an hour from then, I was going to be married to Bobbie. My best man and I were both stationed in Guantanamo Bay Cuba. 48 years later, through good times and bad, and some tragedy, we are happy that we met one summer night in 1967 in a little dance hall out in the country in Dorchester County Maryland. We have had some squabbles, but who has not. But hey, it has been fun most of the time. Give and take and work together, that's my motto. Today, I suppose that we will head south into Hagerstown Maryland or Martinsburg West Virginia and shop and stop at a nice place to eat. We hope that we are still both around for number 50.
