Good looking gun, but, yeah, a target pistol it is not. Have to remember, these birdshead single actions were some of the original belly guns. That one is a "sitting at the table playing poker" kind of gun.

I can’t remember. I purchased it off Etsy about ten years ago.

I believe that I have the answer to this. It was a gentleman on Etsy who is Native American I don’t recall which tribe. Gene sent him a Henry Mare’s leg butt stock so he could design and make a cuff for it. I had him make mine. His shop was Two Sticks Leather.
I just searched Etsy and could not find it so I assume that he is no longer available there.
He did very good work. And put his makers mark on the panel on the butt.

Yes. I’ve picked out two Henrys in 22WMR. My house cleaner is here now so I’m hanging out in the motor home. This time tomorrow I should be under the knife.

I shot these two rifles today. They are both Frontiers. The top has the 20.5” barrel and wears a Malcolm Scope. The bottom has the 24” barrel and has a tang sight. Both are 22WMR.

A few years back Henry offered the brass lite covers and I bought two. The lever is a custom made Rio Bravo.

With the tang sight and long barrel the sight radius is 30”. If you look close at the top picture you can see the front sight is a globe.

I only shot five rounds each offhand. Both are kind of unyielding and needs some sort of support like a tree or a fence. The Malcolm scope is mostly a novelty scope and has a narrow eye relief and is not very bright. Still it’s fun to dig out every now and then. The long relief on the tang sight makes it easy to aim and is limited by the action type for accuracy. When I complete my 100 yard range this summer I want to bench rest it.

Surgery is tomorrow so it might be a few weeks till my next report. These reports might not be the most exciting yet I hope they will encourage others to just go out and shoot.

Thanks. With me you either get to see a firearm in hand with snow in the distance or the view of the snow from my tractor. I haven’t gone anywhere in two months except to the grocery store or church.

I hope to be driving again in 48 hours. Surgery in 17 hours and 16 minutes.

I must be getting cabin fever because I find brass stuck to my van exciting.

When I shoot I walk out in front of my van. I just swept the snow off the windshield and a dozen brass went flying. This lonely one remained.

Well, we all know Gene's surgery is this morning. So I decided to do a little rimfire plinking off the deck for him.
At 15 yds., there's the little reactive target, 2 out 6 rds. were hits, one handed with the Rugher Wrangler. Two five round mags from the Romanian trainer using just the 25 meter sight and offhand.
Got the reactive one first shot then the little swinger at 25, the missed that trio at 38 yds all 3. Second mag I hit it on second try and then one of the 4" at 50, as well as the orange 8" on the ground then one in the orange of the big silhouette. Haven't shot this rifle since last Feb. When I was testing different ammo types.

Great idea, Vaquero. We'll have to keep this daily plinking thread going while Gene is having the cataract surgeries.

I was out earlier this week shaking the dust off some of my air guns, especially one of the FWB Sports. The FWB Sport is a powerful springer that shoots right at 1000 fps with very light pellets, but around 850 with the heavier pellets I use. Recoil is sharp and very fast. A gentle shooter it is not. Accuracy is amazing, though.Although a break barrel, the FWB Sport has tied with my best under lever springers for smallest groups. Easier to load with cold hands than an under lever, too.


We haven't had enough snow yet to bury my steel targets, so stepping out on our deck for a few shots at 25 yards is still doable. Pretty hard to miss when shooting from a rest with this one, so I usually shoot without a rest, though while sitting on a bench. Another plus for shooting the FWB with its power is that I score with any hit on a reactive target.

Glad you got home safe, Gene. Looks like the main part of this storm is staying to the south and east of us, so far.
