she sure looks different and a couple of significant differences have already surfaced .... first, with the curtains closed its a good bit darker in the camper .... that will be most welcome when we are camped in areas that are brightly lighted at night .... second, its 91 degrees (RealFeel 98) and the camper's AC's are running less than is normal .... the new curtains clearly are better at blocking light and have a much better insulation value .... 5 curtains for 4 windows left to make and install

happy to be able to say that it appears the leak in the camper's plumbing has been sealed .... just to add a little insurance, our youngest son crawled under there today and after checking it, sprayed it again just to add a bit more coverage .... he hopes to get back by here after work day after tomorrow and reinstall the underbelly cover .... tomorrow morning we hope to resume making and installing new curtains on the last 4 windows .... once these two projects are finished we can get busy with cleaning and packing

CURTAIN PROJECT COMPLETE ....

picture 1 living area with lights on
picture 2 living area with lights off, camera flash on
picture 3 living area with lights off, no flash

pictures taken shortly after noon on a bright, sunny day .... our OEM didn't darken the room anywhere near as much .... the new ones should be much better with at night in a brightly lit campground

we are taking the rest of the day off .... next up tomorrow, my wife starts cleaning and packing interior items while I do the same for the basement

kind words appreciated .... the rods/rod holders/curtain material/curtain liner cost us something under $400 .... the curtain material is expensive (OK, seems expensive to me) but not having to pay labor to custom make 14 curtains, that part came out pretty cheap .... I had most of the the plumbing parts on hand but will now have to replace them .... everything I need is readily available at Lowe's and, all told, that will take $75+/- ....

between rain showers, I just finished hauling off the last of the debris that accumulated in removing the OEM window shades and hardware .... also, filled the camper's propane tanks .... still taking baby steps toward heading west

Looks pretty toasty up there for the next week or so Jim. The AC will be on full alert.

We had that heat here last week and sent it to the Dakota’s. Now we’re in a cold front with a forecast for a low tonight of 36. This too we will send to the Dakota’s so by the time you get there maybe it will cool down. Happy to help!

your effort to move coo- ler temps west is most certainly appreciated .... the long range forecast in Estelline for the day we arrive is a of high 91° -- a RealFeel® of 95°-- and a RealFeel in the Shade™ of 89°.... we aren't looking forward to setting up in those temps but doing so is nothing new .... with his flight being about a week away, we were really looking forward to taking our 5 year old grandson to the RDU Observation Park to watch planes take off and land .... we did that a couple of years ago when our daughter and he flew out to South Dakota .... he has no memory of it .... sometimes it pays to be paranoid .... decided to check their website and the park is still closed because of Covid .... we did call and confirm it .... we do hope our daughter may be able to find time to take him before their flight .... in a few minutes we will go out and use the time finish cleaning up from our new curtain install .... we will also start moving summer clothing into the camper

well, our camper's underbelly has been buttoned up .... so far as I know, mechanically she's almost ready to head west .... with actual temps in the 90's and the "Real Feel" considerably north of that, my line between warming up and wearing out is pretty dang thin

well, the camper and truck have both been thoroughly washed and look about as good as they can look after so many miles over so many years .... she's parked in a very wet area that should dry before morning .... at that time we will accelerate loading and storing equipment and supplies
