The guy in the foreground took the early retirement package. He has arthritis in one back leg so no more work. He just hangs out with us. He was a misunderstood guy in his early life, when we bought him you had to tranquilize him for the farrier to shoe him. After awhile this horse and I got to be pretty good friends. Now he's a real sweet guy and always comes to see us in the pasture. He needed somebody to trust. He's low man in the pecking order but other than packing an aching leg around in cold weather sometimes (me too) he's doing ok.

It's a shame, he was such a nice horse to ride. Rocking chair smooth and very responsive. I won money on him at the first ranch roping competition I took him to. He's actually our son's horse. But what the heck, not his fault he has a bum leg, so relax my friend and enjoy retirement.

ps....sometimes if one of the others pushes him off his hay and makes him move to another spot he'll throw a little tantrum that is quite amusing...he'll jump around and snort & kick and then he's over it and starts eating hay somewhere else.

Clearly, he's a Canadian horse. In the States, it looks more like this.
