It was warmer in Jan than its been for the last 3 weeks here.

Heck we were having 60+ degrees in January!!

the cold temps have spread to our area in Texas .... 78 one day last week, forecasted high today 39 with it rising to 74 by Friday .... calling for 28 tonight .... if it gets down there it will be the lowest temp we have seen since arriving in Texas on Jan 7th .... it got so windy last night that I felt the need to take down our flag ... hope to be able to put it back up tomorrow .... 2nd cup of coffee in a Texas size, Texas State Parks mug

Same here just a few miles east of you. Woke up to 37° this morning and supposed to be in upper 20's tomorrow morning. Getting a late start, as usual, for the last week.

Same on the West side in the TV. Jan electric bill was much less than usual, $100+ less. Temps lately have been in the 20's at night, high 30's and 40's.

Freezing fog in Bend this morning but LaPine/Sunriver areas were clear - just cold!!

29 last night, calling for a high of 48 with 15 mph winds out of the north and down to 31 tonight in Columbus, TX .... should be in the low 70's late in the week .... unfortunately, as the temps rise, the chance of rain/thunderstorms is projected to go right up as well .... several cups of coffee in a Henry Mug

High yesterday was around 10 degrees. I worked outside most of the day and it was pretty cold. I tried to run the tractor moving snow with just Levis and a parka, but my ass froze so I put on my snow pants. Today is about the same so I'll just put the snow pants on right away.

We are cleaning out my old shop discarding all my scrap wood that I have accumulated over many years and moving all tools, saws, benches out to the barn. Then we will insulate and finish the inside so i can heat it. Probably should have waited for Spring to do this.

Right now bright sunlight and 8 degrees with 30s and wet snow forecast for the weekend.

Waiting for my Contractor to show up. Yesterday his trailer was frozen to the ground in ice and blown snow.

34 and snowing. No accumulation yet. Maybe 40 later.

He did show up late but went right to work and hauled out two more loads. Course one went right to my pole shed.

Well, we've got the whole building stripped down to nothing. bare walls and floor. He is bringing in the insulation and wood today and on Monday will get started finishing off the interior. It's a 23x23 foot building with a large insulated roll up door, plus an entry door.

Now for the heat. I would like a wood stove since I have tons of firewood, but also a propane heater to keep it warm over night. Thinking about a Catalytic wall mount.

Then start building work benches again. Long term project.

I built a bit smaller shop next to my house and proper insulation was key! I did that part myself. It is so tight now, that a small electric space heater is keeping it toasty. I bought one of those remote indoor/outdoor thermometers. One unit is in the shop and the other is in the house. That way I always know the shop temperature before I go out there. Just a suggestion.Good luck as your renovation continues!..

I’d give a catalytic heater some serious thought if this is a wood shop. Saw dust and certain types propane heat can be a bad mix. I think the new style of catalytic heaters are better, but it depends on which one you buy.

We had a surprise snowfall of about an inch yesterday, but it was all gone very quickly. Clear and frosty this morning at 30* but headed for sunny and 45*.

Our deep freeze is finally over, but now it's 32 and rain mixed with snow. I'll tell you what, if this all melts quickly, folks along the Mississippi better start building levees. We have a huge snow pack. Course if the sun comes out and it doesn't get real warm for a few days a lot of it will evaporate. Pray for that.
