Like I said above, I'm planning on basically splitting the difference and trying 18.5 to start.
Hornady's Ninth Edition Handgun section for 110 XTP and Alliant 2400:

15.0 gr. velocity: 1300 (START)
15.9 gr. velocity: 1350
16.9 gr. velocity: 1400
17.9 gr. velocity: 1450
18.8 gr. velocity: 1500 (MAX)

Hornady's data is developed using a Colt Python 8" barrel, 1 in 16 twist.
H006M BBB .357 - H001 Classic .22LR - Uberti/Taylors & Co. SmokeWagon .357 5.5" - Uberti/Taylors & Co. RanchHand .22LR 5.5" - Colt King Cobra Carry 2" - Colt Official Police 38spl 4"

It seems to me that the differences here have to do with not only who the publisher of the data is, but the firearm being used to test the loads that leads to the publishing.

The Lyman Manual data I've been citing is based on a WInchester Model 94AE with a 20" barrel (1:16 twist rate). So I interpret their table as a "rifle data table," where they suggest starting at 17.0 gr of 2400 and maxing out at 20.3.

By the same token, the Hornady Manual's "Rifle Section" for 357 mag doesn't list a load at all for a 110 gr XTP, but starts at 125 gr.

Evan, I haven't loaded any 110's in .357 with 2400, but, I'm thinking 17.5gr would be a good place to start. According to Allinant, those loads on their website, should be reduced by 10%. Making that 19.5/2400 listing as 17.55gr of 2400.
When I called Alliant, the tech mentioned the same; back off 10% to start. This is how I came to my load using 2400/158 XTP's in my .357. 11.5-12.5gr 2400[.357]. Hope this helps.
I never start off with the max load. I typically like to find out which load my rifle or pistol likes best. Sometimes it takes a while.

Exactly. That's why I'd start out with 18.0 or 18.5 and go from there.

I had similar problems trying to develop a hunting load for 158 grain XTPs using 4227. I ran out of room in the case long before I ran out of data.

I've got 80 rounds loaded up, with 110, 125, 140 and 158 gr XTPs, all with 2400 powder at appropriate weights. I'll be doing a range trip either Friday or Monday and will post a new thread. My hopes are high!

Cool. I look forward to the reports on the different bullet weight results.

The cataract surgery was a breeze, so I may head up to the indoor range tomorrow. Not much recoil to deal with in this little test, anyway. Will post here in "Reloading" as I have been all along.

Here's what I'm working with. Couldn't remember the exact powder loads, but I'd labeled them, so here's a pic.
110 gr XTP/18.0 gr 2400
125 gr XTP/16.0 gr 2400
140 gr XTP/15.0 gr 2400
158 gr XTP/13.5 gr 2400
There's no algorithm that got me to those powder loads, just combined lots of inputs and adjusted to put each one in the middle range of what the Lyman Manual (Rifle Section) had for 2400 at each of those projectile weights (with some rounding to x.0 or x.5).
Since I have 20 rds of each, I'll set up two targets, both with 10 rounds of each of those, plus 10 rounds of Fiocchi 142 gr factory as a "control" group, since each target displays basically 5 different targets on the same sheet.
