The helmet was replaced, but for a different reason.
Shortly after that fall is when Superstorm Sandy hit NJ. I had an apartment in Bergen County in an area notorious for flooding, but my apartment and garage were on an elevated little area. The Saddle River was right behind me, but at least 30 feet in elevation lower. In the days before that storm hit, a friend was helping me get stuff moved up to higher shelves in my garage, just in case, and she kept putting everything into my little boat, saying it would be safer in there. She was right. When those flood waters receded, I had almost 50" of water in the garage. It lifted the boat, still strapped to the trailer, and moved it over to the other side of the garage, and the water line was halfway up the mirror on the right side mirror with the bike on it's kickstand. The bike was completely submerged for a few hours. In 2013 I moved to upstate NY, and brought that bike with me, and over a few months got the crankcase and gas tank cleaned out, and rebuilt the carbs to get it running again. When I did get it running, and tried putting on the helmet, my helmet lining just fell out of the shell. I ended up buying another modular to replace it.
But your point is well taken, and thanks for mentioning it. I called the manufacturer, Nolan, and they said their helmets have a ten year life span, which I never knew. I was aware that a fall, or any other kind of severe shock, would compress the lining and compromise the protection that the helmet could provide, but not that they just age out.

This is MidNight, my present (and probably last) ride. I had a 96 Harley Road King until I got this in 2019.
