.45 Colt vs .357 Magnum energy...........
Re: .45 Colt vs .357 Magnum energy...........
Mbc are 12 T&B are 15-16. I coat all my lead like that 9, 40, 357. 45acp,and 45 colt. Used to get lead in my 357 and 40 till I started coating them, I just like to coat the bullets makes the bores easier to clean and less costly than ordering coated bullets.

I've actually thought about doing that very same thing. Seems pretty simple. But, those throats need to be opened up on my revolver. Not sure I have the confidence to attack that myself, and the two shops around me don't offer gunsmithing any longer. Dang! I'll figure something out. Meanwhile, I have other guns to shoot.

Tom do you have a drill press? Or you can clamp your cylinder snug in a padded vise and with proper sized wood dowel that has a split about 1 inch long. I use my drill press and work the cylinder up and down by hand on a low speed.
Just wrap the emery paper around the dowel in direction of rotation until it's a snug fit in the cylinder throat bore. Variable speed drill works best and at a medium speed work the drill from chamber side of cylinder slowly in and out holding the drill straight as possible. Just don't let the emery paper completely exit the cylinder when you push it thru. Use some 320 grit and take your time. Clean out the bore and see how the bullet fits after couple of strokes.

For lead removal I found that white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide 50-50 mix, plug 1 end pour in barrel let sit 5 min dispose of safely. Go to father frogs pad http://www.frfrogspad.com/ to see that and more

Alrighty then, I'm going to give that a whirl. That sounds pretty simple forty. I'll get the proper dowel size and some 320 grit. Thanks a ton!fortyshooter wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 4:33 pmTom do you have a drill press?
