Your Favorite Fishing Rod
Re: Your Favorite Fishing Rod
My favorite rod is a Winston 5wt WT 8’-6”. I’ve fished numerous rods but I feel this is the smoothest, classiest and forgiving rod I’ve ever seen! When I teach fly fishing to anglers they try this and all want to buy it! It’s not for sale and never will be. I think I’ll have it buried with me.

Re: Your Favorite Fishing Rod
Ah, I see this popped up again. We have been in Oklahoma about four years and been fishing away from our little farm pond once... Health, farm commitments, weather... All worked against us. I haven't given up. We even considered selling off the kayaks, for health reasons, and buying a bass boat. I'm not ready to do that yet.
There's a couple decent fishing lakes within a hour drive, I am going to fish them.
I am.
Then I'll decide.
Fly rod and bait caster.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Locally, east central Nebraska, whatever line weight is appropriate. My favorite is a Temple Fork 3 weight with light line. I love hunting brookies in Colorado beaver ponds.
They may be small, but such fun and beauty.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Re: Your Favorite Fishing Rod
With the arthritis these days, I mostly throw a five weight for bass and a three weight for panfish when flyfishing. I love the baitcaster with the frog or spinner, and will also take an open face spinning rod with a spinner bait of some sort to tease the pan fish.
