Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
I normally keep my thermostat at 68 but with the cold I turned it up to 70 in case I loose power. I just checked and it’s 73 inside. Even in the cold the sun warms the house.
I have a lot of windows.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Ordered cat food from Chewy and FedEx passed by my street yesterday claiming the inclement weather did not allow them to deliver. Sun was shining, street was plowed and clear as well as the driveway. Today it is colder and snowing. Tracked the truck and he was heading away from me so I chased him down. Cat doesn't understand "Sorry, I don't have any food for you". FedEx is not my favorite.
Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Little bit of surprise rain last night. But cold East wind has already dried that up by sunrise.
36' and sunny this morning. Maybe 47' later. Sunny expected next couple of days.

Quite the shame! decades ago, FedEx used to be the premier delivery service, but in my opinion, they are now the most un-dependable worst.Ernie wrote: ↑Fri Jan 23, 2026 2:05 pmOrdered cat food from Chewy and FedEx passed by my street yesterday claiming the inclement weather did not allow them to deliver. The high yesterday was -14F and it’s -27 right now. It won’t get above zero for five more days.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Fair, -22°F, Humidity 75%
Wind Speed Calm
Barometer 30.65 in
Dewpoint -27°F
Visibility 10.00 mi
Sunny and cold, with a high near -3.
Wind chill values as low as -23.
Calm wind becoming south southwest around 5 mph.
Have you ever tried to lodge a complaint to FEDEX? Yesterday our neighbor up the road about a mile
came to our door with our Starlink Mini I had ordered for the RV. FEDEX delivered it to their house by
mistake and even photographed their front door and sent me a text with it. I'm glad we have honest neighbors.
So I tried for an hour to complain to FEDEX. If you call the number and actually get through, the robot voice will hang
up on you if you answer on item wrong. I finally gave up and tried their Chat. No better. My guess is they don't want to hear complaints.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
While not anywhere close to Sir Henry and Coop (thankfully) we are having the coldest day of the season today at 12 above. Not sure what the high is supposed to be but probably in the mid 20’s. Got a nice fire in the stove plus I’m letting the furnace run at the same time. I’ll do this until the house gets up to the set temp of 69 and then turn it down. Normally I use the stove to bring the temp to 69 and then turn the furnace on to maintain the temp. With the temp today I want the whole house to get heat as the stove mostly heats the great room area including the kitchen and dining room.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
I have a FedEx account to manage deliveries. When logged in, it provides a link to make a claim (https://www.fedex.com/en-us/customer-su ... laims.html). You might find it helpful. I don't get too many deliveries from them, but I've never had a problem.cooperhawk wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 9:12 amHave you ever tried to lodge a complaint to FEDEX? I have an account and tried to use it yesterday. It is not user friendly.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
our high today has been 29 .... at 5PM its dropped to 27 on its way to an overnight low of 24 ....they say we have a "heavy mixed precipitation of largely sleet and freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations ranging from one quarter to one half of an inch. Locally higher ice amounts are also possible across the Piedmont. Total sleet and snow accumulations up to two inches" .... the prediction is, the slick stuff will move in sometime after 10PM and hang around to some time after noon tomorrow .... we are about as ready as we can get .... history indicates we can expect the power to go out, we can only hope it will hold off doing so until after daylight

Currently it’s -20F with a gentle 4 mph breeze. High today will be -4F. In three to four days it might get above zero. Ice fishing is in full force with huge trailers (ice houses) and trucks on the lakes.

At 11:00 AM it's 18degrees, 4-6 inches of snow. It stopped snowing but my wife hears something hitting our windows , probably sleet or freezing rain. Breakfast was homemade bread pudding, butter and syrup and my usual half pot of coffee.
