Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?

I was at a couple places last week and while they both had a better selection of guns they had almost no ammo. No .22 or 9mm. Sportsman's had some .45 and some AK ammo, but not much else. Funny how some places are getting the more common ammo and others are not.

Popped into the two shops in Deer Park that sell ammo yesterday and I was surprised to see quite a bit on hand. One store had 9mm, 223, 7.62 x 51 and many others and the other store had the CCI mini-mag 300 packs (HP) for $27 and change. I would have picked one up if it was the SP, I have lots of the HP so I left it for others.

I'm in Eastern PA outside of Phila and it still hard to find 22lr. When I do find it I'm limited to two boxes. 22WMR is really tough to get. LGC rarely has them. Went to Richmond, VA last week to visit family. Stopped by Greentop and Bass Pro Shops. Wow, I could buy as much 22lr and 22wmr as I wanted. Plenty of CCI. Plenty of ammo on the shelves. Loved it! Now I'm fully stocked. Wife thought I was crazy.

Stores are getting better stocked with ammo, bought 9mm and .38 special. Rimfire available except for .22 mag, which seem to be scarcer than unicorn poop

I can get just about anything I want but primers. Just have sticker shock.

Just found some Hodgdon HS-6 powder and small pistol magnum primers. Score!
Can finally reload my .357 and .38 brass!!!
Regular 9mm and 5.56 ammo is becoming somewhat easy to find these days.

Pretty much the same over here brass at least on the 9mm and 5.56. Had a local guy post that he can’t fine upland/pheasant hunting loads anywhere. I watched for some on my last two of trips to different LGS’s and I saw nothing for him. Lots of light dove/quail target type loads but nothing heavy.

Ive seen ammo local here at a shooting range for 379.00 per 1000. Thats 9mm. Im still to cheap to buy any at those prices when prices were 200.00 a case not that long ago. They may never go back there but they are still to high for me.

Ammo has been showing up locally, both in quantity and variety, in the last few weeks. The question now is whether or not that can be sustained. Demand is still very high, as are prices, and no one foresee's that easing for quite a while.

Rural king in Plano Illinois had plenty of ammo. The most I've seen in a while. There where 50 round boxes of 9mm ammo for $25.
There was also 50 round boxes of 22lr for $7 a box. None of the ammo had limits. I will add the 9mm, was for target practice only.

The bass pro mothership in Springfield, MO has stacks and stacks of prepper/black rifle enthusiast rounds: 223, 308, 6.5 creedmoor, 300 blackout, plenty of 9mm too. These prices are all coming down. But hunting calibers like 30-30 and 45-70 are nowhere to be found. I just ordered my first Henry, a 45-70 and I had looked in a half dozen places for ammo. I found a place I'd never been on google and they had a stash of leverevolution 45-70 a few bucks below the cheapest online price at just (JUST!) $2.50 a round.

I stocked up on ammo for my AR-15 and AR-10 last year, looks like I did it backwards.

But honestly making gun-nut hoarding rounds makes perfect sense from a manufacturer perspective. People who don't need them will buy 1000 rounds at triple the going price three years ago. Meanwhile the old duffers buying 30-30 get one box every two years and will just go without before paying $60 for a box of Corelokt.

Picked up a box of 15 Federal 3" 12ga slugs at Wally World last night for $16.68. There were about four or so on the shelf. Asked the clerk when 30-30 may be in. He scanned the bar code and told me that a shipment is expected on the 18th. So, I plan to check back in a few weeks. Never know, just might be a box or two waiting for me .

Good one Happy, I don't believe any of us here actually live in the hood.
Like you I live out in the county, and can/do literally shoot right off the back deck.
I also cast quite a few different bullets for loading.
Don't shoot that much shotgun stuff and don't load for those.

I thought that he was referring to neighborhood. Like you, I have been thinking about producing my own ammo as well.
