they do have a way of letting you know when to back OFF! Dogs have teeth and powerful jaws, but cats can attack with teeth and four other weapons...

Years ago I was at a friends place when another friend came by and brought in his German Shepherd, the dog saw my friends cat and immediately chased it down a hallway. All the doors were closed and when the cat realized it was cornered it launched itself at the dog's face and was scratching with all 4 paws. The dog shook the cat off and turned and ran. He wanted out.

At least the cat tried to nicely retreat before deciding to shred the dogs face.

The friend with the dog had always said his German Shepherd was a Shepherd/Wolf mix. I doubt it was, wasn't any bigger than a normal German Shepherd. We never let him live it down that his Wolf/Dog was afraid of a little cat.

His wife had a German Shepherd that was huge, biggest one I've ever seen but it loved cats. Whenever their mama kitty had kittens it would carry them around in it's mouth. Very gentle, they would be halfway in his mouth but were never hurt.
