It's a real bummer that you have to go thru this little episode with your new Henry, Gunner. The only thing that I can think of trying before sending it in to get fixed is to knock out the pin in the forward mag tube support (use a small punch or a flattened finishing nail) and see if it is bent. If it is bent you can either try to straighten it or have Henry send you a new one (or maybe about 5 new ones for all the trouble you've gone thru), replace it and then see if it holds that mag tube in place under fire. When the pin is out, you can also pull out the mag tube and take a good look at it to see if maybe it is bent in around the area where the pin fits - if it is, maybe Henry can send you a new tube. I bet if you send it in, they will probably replace both of these parts in order to fix it - if Henry will send you the parts, you could do it yourself and save the hassle of mailing the rifle....

Looking forward to it. I got a bunch of Campro & Hornady XTP's loaded up with H110 but unable to put down range. Got some hard cast on the way as well. Hopefully the rifle won't be at Grech Outdoor's for very long. I emailed them last night and received a response from the owner in about an hour, on a holiday no less. So far so good.

I just want to give a little update for any other fellow Canuck who has to send their rifle to Grech Outdoors. Well, I got my rifle back from Grech in Ontario Canada. Grech Outdoors doesn't have the best reputation in customer service or repair.

When I read on the work order what was done by the gunsmith, it initially appeared Grech was living up to their reputation. According to the work order, all the smith did was tap the mag tube back in place and test fired it and everything was good to go. That was what I did before sending it to them. But it was not gtg after firing 10 rounds. The same thing, mag tube crept forward. So I was not holding out much hope and looked at contacting Henry for a replacement tube and roll pin and doing the repair myself. I took it to the range, fired off 66 rounds and no mag tube creep. Problem solved. Upon closer examination, and if I was a betting man, I would say the smith changed out the mag tube as there were some very light scratches on the tube near the support that wasn't there when I sent it in. Plus the bluing was a little lighter in colour than the barrel, which was also the same colour when I sent the rifle in. Overall, I'm satisfied and I have an operational rifle.

Those "very light scratches" and "lighter bluing" cannot outweigh having a properly-working rifle.
