If the phone shoots large files, mine does, you can resize them.
I always download mine to the desktop to post them.
Each system is different, you can google the resize procedure.
If you want to keep the full size image, choose file, save as instead of save, I just add a c at the end of the file name, i.e. "Cool target c" for compressed so I know at a glance which is the downsized file.

Several of my old forums had size restrictions for images. Per image, or total bites per post. Got used to downsizing. It also saves space on your hard drive.

I also regularly delete the clutter from my phone. I have about 25 pics saved on my phone. Miss Tina has over 100. SMH. I have family, and a couple that mean something. The rest are deleted after I download them or cull the garbage.

Apple includes a hidden image converter within the iOS Files app that allows you to instantly compress photos.
Open your Photos app and choose the image you want to shrink.
Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow) in the bottom-left corner.
Scroll down and tap Save to Files, then choose a folder (like On My iPhone) and tap Save.
Open the built-in Files app on your iPhone and go to the folder where you saved it.
Press and hold down on your photo until the menu pops up.
Tap Quick Actions, then select Convert Image.
Select JPEG as your format, then choose Small or Medium.
A newly shrunk copy of your photo will appear right next to the original.
You can then share it or save it back to your main Photos library.
