Henry, made in the USA. You won't ever call Henry and have your call answered out of the country where you can't understand the accent. The few times I have had a problem over the years, they have always been very nice to work with and worked hard to solve it. Why I support the company.
I sent an email years ago on a Sunday, expecting a call back mid week. I got a call that afternoon, from Anthony. The OWNER. He was sitting in a hotel somewhere, working his way thru the emails to kill time. We chatted for nearly a half hour, and the next morning, as he promised, I received a call from the head of the section I needed. Shipping labels arrived and my problem was quickly solved. THAT is why I bought another Henry shortly thereafter.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

I'm lost. How do you get those case volumes in .357mag/38spl?
Good to hear that rifle shoots good and that you are pleased with the service you received from Henry.

Re: well, donkey do-little.
You shoot a standard loaded case in your rifle.
you put the case on the scale and zero it out.
you fill it with water; I used a syringe.
once the water was level with the top,
that weight is the volume of your case in grains.
You add that to the case volume tab in GRT.
I averaged 5 cases. They range from 25.4 to 25.6, the 25.4 was the lightest.
Re: well, donkey do-little.
I get the method, but shouldn't it come out around 15.6gr water for .357mag/38spl?DsGrouse wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 2:15 pmYou shoot a standard loaded case in your rifle.

Re: well, donkey do-little.
Water weighs more than powder. I did the test again with three cases I fired yesterday. I'm back to 27 grains on average for 357 mag. You fill it all the way to the top, level with the rim.Mags wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 2:28 pmI get the method, but shouldn't it come out around 15.6gr water for .357mag/38spl?DsGrouse wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 2:15 pmYou shoot a standard loaded case in your rifle.

My average on 38spl cases is 22.5 grns of h20, but, when i forgot to zero out my case, it came to 16 grns of h20
The software needs to know your full case capacity. It subtracts portions of that when you put in your bullet data.
Re: well, donkey do-little.
Loaded up some 285grn tcgc's from matts, some 260 hbrn from matts, hornaday xtp 300s and some nosler 250 sphgs.
285's 10 shot 2 inch group @ 50yds
Nosler 250s 10 shot 1 inch group* @ 50yds
300= 6", 260 =5", a 250grn lead cowboy load 8" groups.
The nosler 250grn is the first bullet out of the 35 i have on hand to stick to an inch at 50yds.
I went ahead and submitted an RMA request for the Henry Big Boy X in 45 Colt. The accuracy is my primary motivation. It has developed a habit of light primer strikes on all ammo. Its hit and miss, but it is very annoying
