Moving to Montana

I'm looking at what they call the "banana belt". It is the warmest winters in Montana and seldom gets below zero.

Does Montana have more than one banana belt? When I did a search, both the Tobacco Valley and Bitteroot Valley say they are the banana belt.

For what it's worth, I wish my town here in Wisconsin was in a banana belt.

It's part of the Bitteroot Valley.

We used to move at least every three years when I was in the Navy.
Had to keep the stuff to a minimum. We have been here for 23 years now and I have way too much stuff.
I hope your plans go smooth and you get the place you are looking for.
If you need help moving the ammo bunkers let me know.

I wish you well on your move to Montana or wherever you finally decide to move to.

My husband is on vacation now and his official retirement starts in a week or so. He is off of work now for good. Woo hoo!

He may go elk or deer hunting with a buddy on Sunday on a close friend's ranch.

Seldom gets below ZERO......

We may have 6-10 days a year that will drop below ZERO. On the other hand we have been known to hit a few 100° temps. I'm in the middle of the country....sheesh.

The place I'm looking at has 105 frost free days a year. When I was a kid we lived in a log cabin with no electricity, no running water and out houses. In the winter we would saw ice blocks from the river for water.

The school I attended had two classes, one for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade and one for the 4th, 5th, and sixth. Lunch was served family style. We sat down at a large table with all the food in bowls. We would dish some out and pass it to the left or right (I can't remember). But before anyone ate grace was said. We could talk but not horse around as the teacher sat at the end of the table. Everyone remained seated till the last person was done and then we were all excused at the same time. If you ever did anything wrong you were beaten by the teacher and then again when you got home.

Most of the kids were Indian and I thought it was normal. Remember this was before television.
