I have driven through that spectacular rock canyon and I guess past Wolf Creek, though I don’t recall the town itself. I really like downtown Helena but the real estate market is completely bonkers. At least you will have good medical and shopping resources not too far away. I would love to live in MT but the winter cold and summer wildfire smoke keep me away….

After 21 years and three homes there, we left Seattle in 2004 for a more economical and laid back lifestyle, but the state politics did not alter. No regrets WHATSOEVER. I just don’t understand the west side of Washington any more. I do visit regularly but only because my son lives there.

Best of luck in your small town.. We moved to the Small Town of Yelm, WA 14 years ago. Then thousands of other people decided to move to the small town of Yelm. The politics leans left but so what. I hunt ,target shoot and fish whenever I want and even have an evil wood burning stove.... Life is what you make it..

We did the same. Folks said WE were crazy, spent years getting our VA place just right, everything was like new, and the land was in just the right spot, and we sold and started over. We moved to a ghost town, and so far have no regrets. We are taking the house problems as they crop up and solving them, we will get this place fine tuned, but we love the area. No regrets.

We looked at population, hospitals, crime stats, crime stats, economy, and density. Then made our choice.

Thanks for the link John. I had forgotten about the other side of the freeway with the RR cabins. When I-15 went in they had to tear half the town down (literally) and a quarter of the town remains on each side.

I bought this t-shirt here about ten years ago and it’s getting tattered.
