This is Cali (aka The Grey Wonder). My wife got her from someone in the Walmart parking lot. She was 6 weeks old when we got her and will be 6 this May. My wife needed to get a replacement for our boy cat the we believe we lost to coyotes one evening. Cali is an indoor cat only. She loves to cuddle by my wife when she watches afternoon TV. At night she will plow into bed and likes to sleep between either my wife's of my legs.

In the evening she will come down to my man-cave and curl up on top of the amp where it's nice and warm.

She's a pretty girl. Does she have extra toes? Kind of looks like it in the first photo.

Yes she is a polydactyl cat. It comes from inbreeding and she is from Dillingham which has a large colony of feral cats. The only way in to Dillingham is plane or boat.

Polydactyls are also called Hemingway’s because Ernest had a few of them. They are now a breed but Little Girl is not a true breed.

Her front paws are about three inches across. Great snowshoes! She is built for snow and cold.

VERY cute cat Gene! Great pics! When we got our Bodhi, ( Ragdoll breed ), we had a choice of three. The other two were Hemingways. We chose Bodhi because of his temperment.

Here's my current 3
Maggie, 14 years old, very mellow cat, she's a one person cat, hides under the bed when anyone comes by except for 1 friend who she tolerates. She has lost some weight since this photo. :o
Image

Leroy, 4 years old, my best bud, has the most personality of any cat I've had. Not very obedient though, he can get scolded or swatted and 10 seconds later he's giving me head butts and nose rubs, 30 minutes later he's doing the same thing he just got scolded for again. When he first met the friend that Maggie tolerates he fell in love, I'm pretty sure he likes her more than me. She is his official Cat God Mother.
Image

Callie, 1½ years old, still has a lot of kitten in her. Older picture but she did chew the hole in the box, boxes and sacks are her favorite toys. Very friendly, loves pets but hates to be held, just barely tolerates it. Best buds with Maggie, plays and wrestles with Leroy, but Leroy makes sure she knows he is the boss.
Image

Have to include one of Sammie, he's been gone for several years now, lived to 13 with diabetes for most of his life. He had 2 ear pokes a day to check blood sugar and 2 insulin shots a day. He hated the ear pokes but never fought them, he would jump up on the counter on his own for them. He did have to spend some time at the vet's several times and they all said he was the best patient ever.

I like dogs but have always been a cat person. Owning dogs are a lot more work, so I like other people's dogs.

I see we're leading the "Canine companions" thread 29 to 13.

Although they are no longer with us, these were our girls-Zooey (black) and Tiger Lilly (white with spots)

I’d get more Cornish Rex cats in a heartbeat; they have big personalities and are very affectionate.

We took in a little guy last Friday 8/23. He has always had a closeness with the little manly man. The cats name is Falcon, his original guardian has passed away. His replacement guardian is in the hospital, and it's not looking good for her at all. Here he is at home now.

Ran across photos of this cat a couple of days ago. Can't believe some of the expressions he makes. You have to join Instagram to have access to all his photos and videos but you can see some without joining. His owner is pretty dedicated to him, he broke his spine and his back legs are paralyzed, she has to help him with his bathroom duties several times a day, he can not go on his own.

Never was a cat guy. I salute anyone who can put up with their temperament. I always jokingly say the best cat is a flat cat!

They are for the most part independent, however, our cat Bodhi has an almost dog, ( Mans Best Friend ) temperment. He is very loving and rolls over every morning to have his belly scratched. I have come to learn that it is my duty, and had better oblidge, :D

When we had to put Carol's last cat down she cried and swore she'd never go through that
again, sssooooooooooooo naturally two weeks later she adopted another one. This one was a
feral kitten that had her ear tips frozen off before she was captured. Brought her home, turned
her loose and didn't see her again for a couple of weeks, but she came out to eat and use the
litter box so gradually she settled down. You still can't hold her your lap, don't even think about
it, but she does love for Carol to brush her and she loves to play laser tag with me.
