Sunny today: a low of 16, and a high of 31; currently 16. On the last of getting ready for Christmas, think I’ll make some fudge, divinity and penuche and still go to PT. Everyone have a great day!

I had forgotten all about divinity. Love it! My Mom used to make it during the holidays.
Hope the PT is working for you brm.

My mom was the baker and made all the cookies, rolls, etc., but my dad always made the divinity and fudge. Divinity was OK but I preferred the fudge and my moms cinnamon sticky buns and chocolate chip cookies.

A little wet in the north of Aus after a tropical cyclone crossed land last week,
One of the members on an Aus hunting forum I frequent has had over 6 feet of rain in the past 5 days. Truely biblical level rainfall, I have experienced 12" of rain in 24hrs and still cant comprehend what it would be like to have that level of rainfall for days on end.

Around here a storm of 1" or maybe 2" of rain is very rare, we're right up next to the Eastern slopes of the Cascade Mts. so they stop a lot of the weather coming from the Pacific. I can't fathom 12" of rain let alone 6 feet.

A bit colder than its been being but supposed to warm up and stay warmer than average through Christmas... im pleased. Im not a snow lover myself... i do like my morning coffee about now though....

34 with a light rain overnight. It’s stopped for now but is expected to pick up again this morning. High will be in the upper 30’s so no snow with this weak storm. Even the ski resorts will get rain according to the weatherman.

Into Spokane today for routine Dr checks and a blood draw so fasting for now. We will probably reward ourselves with breakfast out. Not much else on tap for the day. Here it’s only mid December and the winter doldrums are setting in.

Enjoy RR, I am currently sitting at the loading desk in the man cave where the wood heater is going, and
has it at a toasty 77 degrees. Was 21 here this AM, made it up to 46.
It's on it's way back down now, and suppose to dip down to around 27 by tomorrow morn.

I'm always interested in what motivates people. When I was younger I had gone through a terrible divorce and all I wanted to do was work so I had a living, and then spend time outdoors hunting and fishing. I lived in Northern Virginia until 1983 and hunted the Blue Ridge for deer and turkey, the Shenandoah Valley for wood chucks and I fished the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. I kept busy. Then I transferred back home to Minnesota as I suddenly got custody of my children and needed family around. Never the less we lived way back in the woods on a lake and still hunted and fished. Now I' married again and like all the comforts of a warm bed.
Still, if I was younger I'd probably like to do some of that life you're living.
So RR, Can I ask what your story is? Please don't be offended, I'm just a little envious.

Not offended at all. Cowboyed a long time. Many many miles and long days horseback and have seen & loved nature in all 4 seasons, good and bad weather. Have a affinity for the 1800's. More like an obsession. Packed my 1860 Henry on lots of long treks. Wanted to experience an earlier time and drawn to the late 1700's, early 1800's fur trade era. Don't do as many miles horseback anymore (my horses are getting old) so I got into black powder and rendezvous'. Can't explain it but it goes beyond passion for me. I love the solitude of solo camping. Even if it means having a bear around my camp....haha. Thankfully that does not happen often. Wife thinks I'm nuts but that is not new. Hope to get my grandson hooked on it one day. In the meantime, I wind back the clock every chance I get and tune out the BS of current times. Keep your powder dry.

Great answer. Kinda what I expected. I cowboyed in my youth and still look back fondly at those times.
I also did black powder and lots of prowling in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northern Virginia.
I'm 83 now and I doubt that my Grandkids would believe the things I have done or the places I've been.
Sometimes when I look back I'm not sure I do. I know that my class mates who I grew up with would be
shocked if I told them all of it. I don't even tell my wife.

I see a kindred spirit. Don't let the bears get you.

We h ad horses as well. In fact my oldest daughter was the Grand Champion Green Hunter in northern Virginia in 1975.
We did trail rides and competitions as well. When I left Virginia I sold the last horse, an Appaloosa filly, to Arthur Godfrey.
Remember him? He still lived on his ranch in the mountains in northern Virginia.

RR, your passions, lifestyle and knowledge of it are very appropriate in this day and age and should serve you well. The world is a crazy place anymore so you're a step ahead by enjoying some time off grid...cause Ya never know.

27 on its way to 48 with no rain .... tonight they say it will drop back to 24 thereafter we are in for a warming trend that will last until after Christmas .... not much on today's agenda, seems to be a lull before the pre-Christmas activities kick in

Well, we're actually warmer than you are these days. In fact folks are trying to ice fishing and are going through the ice.
A light aircraft tried to land on Red Lake yesterday and the plane went through the ice. Both passengers got out okay.

We planned to visit our friends at Port Aransas but due to his health they will be at their home Northeast of Frederiksberg instead, so we will visit them there. Sorry Al. From there we have reservations at an RV Resort north of Tucson.
