It's in the 20's and won't get out of them. An inch of snow fell overnight. The sun is out in full.

down to 37 last night, already up to 44 on its way to 69 later today in Granbury, TX .... a beautifully clear Carolina Blue Sky helps us feel right at home .... another day of visiting with Maureen's aunt on tap .... later today we will make preparations to pull out as early as possible in the morning and head back to Lake Conroe .... basic bacon, eggs and Folgers flowing through a Henry Mug .... watching "Canyon Passage" made back in 1946, staring Dana Andrews and Susan Hayward

It’s 39 degrees as I drink my first cup of coffee made outside. My kitchen is getting new appliances so I’ll be cooking outside for the next two weeks.

52° this morning on the dog walk. Made flapjacks, bacon, and coffee. Getting ready to go out and rake Live Oak leaves. They push off in the spring rather than the fall. Later.

30 and just had a snow flurry that lasted just long enough to turn the ground white. With a high forecasted in the upper 40’s the white will be gone shortly. Nice week ahead.

Planning on working outdoors today getting some of the winter mess cleaned up. Had a large (12” diameter) Hawthorn bush/tree break off and fall into the rest of the bushes. Planning on getting it out of the rest of the bushes without destroying any. This wood is really dense and heavy and doesn’t burn worth a crap. Going to be interesting.

Every bodies' Live Oaks here by the Red River has been dropping their leaves. My live oak's leaves have turned a grayish green and are dropping as fast as they can. Neil Sperry, a local horiculturist, has said that they will come back this Spring. Says it is not too unusual for the oaks to shed all leaves. Live Oaks usually only shed a few leaves at a time all thru the year. I hope he is right. Would hate to loose mine. It shades most of my house in the summer time.

We have lots of large mature Red and White Oaks around here. What is a Live Oak?
Never heard of a tree shedding leaves as spring approaches?

Got the snag out of the bushes. Cut off two 5’ sections to reduce the weight somewhat and then hooked a chain around it and pulled it out with my loader lifting it as much as I dared. I wasn’t sure what the total weight was and I didn’t want to tip my tractor over. Just got it cut up and moved to my burn pile when it started snowing again. Sidewise with the wind. So I’m taking a break but hope to get back out there.
