Funny thing that I just got back from the range where I put a few rounds through my .44 BBB, I was shooting at 50 metres using a 1.5-5x20 simmons whitetail scope.
First attempt using 240 gn cast in front of 10.3 of Vit N340 gave a the beginings of a group although it was difficult to see the crosshairs on the target, I then tried 240 gn copper jacket PPU with the same powder load see picture.
Not the best 50 metre group but in my defence I could barely make out the spot and cross even through the scope and the sighters to get on the target using cast bullets looked pretty good for a group. I will try again on wednesday with both cast and jacketed.

Group looks good but can't offer anything about the scope. As Quigley would say "never had much use for one"... :)

Great shooting, guys.

RR, I still haven't gotten around to that kneeling position, so there's a great excuse to get the range, right? Given the weight of that 1885, yeah, I think you'll be a lot more comfortable shooting it from a kneeling position. As for the scope thing, there are days when I really do need a scope, now. Those are the kind of days when those iron sights are saying they don't have much use for me. :)

He also said, "I said 'I didn't have much use for them', not 'I didn't no how to use them'."

I think shooting from 1 knee will be the 1885 high wall position. Will try off hand but that's a long barrel out there at 30"...
